WHY IS VENTILATION IMPORTANT?
The main purpose of ventilation is to enhance the air quality within a building.
Modern standards in construction have resulted in increased air tightness, causing in the trapping of pollutants and moisture. These pollutants originate from the building materials, fitting out and decorating of the dwelling, and the moisture is produced from the people who reside in them.
WHY ARE HUMIDITY LEVELS IMPORTANT?
Moisture is the most significant pollutant. The average family of five people produces approximately 6 litres of moisture per day. This moisture can cause mould and ideal conditions for the common household dust mite (Dermatophagoides Pteronyssinus), whose faeces is the cause of fungus known to be responsible for asthma. Removing the humidity from the domestic dwelling reduces the presence of dust mites and ensures the environment remains hostile for fungi.
WHY IS TESTING & COMMISSIONING IMPORTANT?
To comply with Building Regulations (Part F) and to ensure the ventilation systems are working efficiently and at optimum levels.
WHO ARE THE REGULATORY BODY?
Ventilation regulatory compliance is governed by HM Government The Building Regulations 2010 Approved Document F which requires all Ventilation Systems 1,3 & 4 to be tested and commissioned.
